Pulpit, Ski trip #4 of 2022 season

Last day out before heading out to Florida for the holidays.. This time Amit, Andy, Stefan and Mark… well sort of Amit, at least for the driving part of the day as when we were getting ready at the car his binding had a malfunction and broke into pieces, leaving him back he decided to drive Stefan’s van to Lake Louise and try to fix the binding or rent skis for the day.  We had radios and decided to stay in contact in case he did come back.   We left Calgary at 7:00 and due to avy conditions we decided to ski in the tress at Pulpit, we would only need to be able to cross Hector Lake, which this time of the year is not quite frozen yet. Holding our breath and with Andy in the front checking the ice every few meters we managed to cross the 400mts lake without breaking the ice !!! OMG stressful. We discussed the strategy if something ever happens and without a rope we knew we had to be extra careful.  Once on the other side of the lake and with snow coming hard we start...

Another mega super Epic Day in the Mountains.. As usual with Andy, Stefan, Mark and this time a few friends from Stefan that joined us for part of the day. We went up Taylor Lake (super cold day -14c at parking lot and didn't warm up all day....). The hike to Taylor Lake is a 7km single track with 500+mts.. once there we decided to go after the Couloir on the left, almost went to the summit when we stopped to wait for the group. General consensus was not to hit the summit, so we transition quickly and ski down one at a time. Conditions were good, hit the bottom and decided to go up again. This time climbers right of the Couloir and we ski down a few cols in the middle, super cool but snow was a bit harder. Once at the bottom, we decided to break in two groups, Andy, Stefan, Mark and me went up to Panorama Ridge to check out a different Couloir that is a north facing going down towards to hwy1. It was a long Couloir, narrow at the top, but nice and long all the way to the bottom. F...

With warmer temperatures in Calgary and super snowy weather in the mountains we decided to head out to Hwy93 north. This time with Andy, Stefan, Mark and Ken. We pulled over on the side of the road of Hwy93N, just 5kms from the booth. With a few kms of uphill bushwhack we managed to get to the top of the hill, found some decent snow coverage and great cornice to drop in. Once at the bottom we decided to go up a few more times. After three runs on the slope, we went to south slope where we found even better snow in the first turn... all the way down to the lake. We went up one more time, this time Ken stop 50mts before us to get a better look of the slop, Andy went down first, then me, Mark and as we are waiting for Ken and Stefan all the snow under Ken slid and almost bury him !! kind of scary moment where we were holding our breath, we had radios and were able to see him, Stefan was still on top and was waiting for Ken to recover and head down. Ken managed to get up and ski down ...
