It's a boy !!! wait a minute, it's 2 boys !!!
How not to write about the most amazing experience of fatherhood !, wow... it is just amazing, all of the sodden nothing else matter in life, nothing will be more important, than been able to see your kids happy and healthy.
So, last week Maria and I headed to the Foothills hospital for our scheduled C-Section on Thursday June 13th. We had to be there at least an hour before, so we left home at around 7:15am. After a quick stop in Tim Hortons for coffee (of course) and McGriddles for Nick we were in our way to the hospital. Quick admission and soon we were in the OR waiting to meet our twins !! The adrenaline was high, not only she is getting opened up, but we didn't know the sex of the babies !@@ Maria was very nervous, but ready like a pro in the start line (I was telling her that it probably feels like her last lap !) of course she wasn't happy about the comparison, but she knew what I meant by that ::--)). First baby's head is almost out and I was ready for the big surprise !!! it's a boy Maria it is a boy with big balls I yelled !!!!, she is like OMG!!! maybe the next one is the girl, 2 minutes later I see the other one coming out and to our surprise it was another boy !!!!!! yeah, I said to Maria, another beautiful boy !! OMG they are so cute Maria !!!
Go to the scale right away and they are 2,880kg and 2,540kg respectively. They called them twin A and twin B in the order they came to the world..
I quickly see them and take some pictures and went back to Maria to confirm that everything is going ok with her. They are closing her now and everything seems to be fine as they are not signs of any kind of complications. I keep praying on her head to San Rafael and Madre Maria and soon enough the four of us are in our way out the the recovery room.
Snapped a picture before we leave the OR
and here we go !!
An hour later and we are ready to move in to post-partum were we spent the next couple of days.
The first night was a bit stressful, with babies in the nursery room for a bit to take care of some mucus.
At around mid night that same day, I bathed them with one of the nurses !! from head to toe ! amazing how they got scrubbed and shampoo :-))
Back in the room and Maria and I started to discussed the names, we had already thought about one boy's name and one girl's name, so we need it to find another boy's name. We decided for Lucas and Benjamin and middle name was Alejandro in honor to my Grand Mother's father. Lucas was the first one (so twin A) and Benjamin the second... even though they are fraternal twins it is very hard to tell them apart, unless you are holding them both it is really difficult to see the difference... I guess 300grm is easy to notice, but as long as you have them side by side :-) (a funny comment, I probably double fed one last night, since I couldn't remember which one was which at around 2am...ups !)
We left the hospital on Saturday noon, right after the three of them (Maria and babies) were checked and confirmed that were doing well.
The mini van came in handy, since we were 7 leaving the hospital, my mom, Maria's mom, the three car seats and both of us.
After a short ride home we made it there sound and safe. It was raining so we ran in with the babies and brought them up to our bed room.
