Searching for Margaret Lake, True Adventure BMW ride ! survive mode after a while..

Once I forget about this I will write up this blog... for now, just some pictures.

Ok I have to admit, motorcycles are cool, I love motorcycles, have always done, however going through this kind of terrain ion a 600lbs bike is not that fun ! yes, BMW GS 1200 are very capable, in fact that is why I bough this bike in the first place, to be able to go anywhere regardless the type of terrain.

Now, if I have to choose between motorcycles and bicycles, I will lean towards pedaling along.. Love the simplicity, silence and feel of the workout.

Anyway, Darcy bought a KTM Adventure 1290 and has been bugging me to go out. Pete bought a KTM 690 (a bit smaller and better for this type of terrain) and wanted to get out and test it !

Last minute on Tuesday morning I called Luis and invited him for a couple of hour ride to to Cochrane and back, little I knew we were going to be back at midnight !
I had a mission, find Margaret Lake (apparently a lake full of fish where Darcy wants to go fishing this summer).
The route was simple, head out to Cochrane, then via Waiperous on Hwy 40, and then left on Waiperous Valley Road. I had been there before with the trailer and didn't think it was that bad.. After we passed the camp area, the road became a bit more challenging, puddles knee deep and rocky.

Once we got to the "Lake" and got off the bike the mosquitoes almost kill us !! they looked like airplanes !  There were so many that could could barely stand and talk.

We decided to keep going and do the full loop, riding clockwise until we hit the road again. We managed
