Bikepacking Adventure with the kids

One of the best adventures of the summer with my favorite crew. Backpacking with the kids was rad, super fun and challenging trail for them, took some breaks in between and had a great time chatting and counting every kilometer left to arrive to the campground in Mount Romulus. We knew it was around 12k, but it has been a long time since I have done that trail and I wasn't sure how much climbing there was.. We rode quite a bit, but also hike a bike more that expected.

When we arrived to the campground we checked all the spots and picked number 5, nice and flat. Then got organize and the kids set up the tent and made sure the gear was all ready for the night. We realized that my sleeping bag was missing, probably when I had the chariot going sideways and dumped everything out on the trail..... Lucas, Beni and I had to share one bag, but the temperature wasn't bad so we slept ok.

After a quick dinner we went down to the river to filter water and chill out for a bit..

With a fireban in place for the area, we had to settle with roasting marshmallows on the stove.. so lame.... but we made the best with what we were allow to have :--)

Morning came and waking up at 9:00 was a great start of the day !! we all slept well and no one had to go out to pee during the night !

One more time to the river to filter water and cooking breakfast before to start packing and get ready for the way back.

Our ride back was much easier, the 284mts of elevation gained yesterday were becoming our best friend now, hardly pedaling in our way back made our ride much much pleasant. We did have some hills, but nothing compared to yesterday.

Beni was pump to be able to hammer every little hill on the middle ring and was ahead of the group all day.

When we arrived to the bridge, and it was only 5kms left, we decided to stop and cool down a bit on the freezing waters of the Little Elbow, very cold, but refreshing..

When we finally arrived to the car the kids were happy, actually when they rode on the pavement the last 500mts they were sooo happy that could have kept riding for anther 10 Kms! The gravel was over and the smooth pavement felt super easy.
