Overnight at Flat Creek Rogers Pass, March 2025

2 nights and 3 days of skiing was the plan for the weekend !! Camping in the winter is not an easy task, many things to plan and do so that you can survive a few nights and still have fun :--) The crew as usual was Andy, Stef, Mark and I. We left Calgary at 5am and drove to Rogers Pass to park at Botstock. We made a quick stop at the visitors center to purchase our overnight permit and let them know where we were planning to stay.

The approach to the camp area was about 9kms (3 1/2 hours), we dropped all the gear there and went out for a ski run. It was a clear day and the snow was expectacular.
After that we returned to camp, we set up the tents and at around 7pm we were having dinner. Andy's hot tent sure makes the difference, wow I can't imagine without it!! we found a nice dead tree that was stil dry and it was more than enough firewood for three days.

The first obstacle was crossing the river !! we brought waders so it wasn't that bad.... one at the time and tossing the waders back.

Setting up camp in the winter is a lot of work, certainly this is not for lazy people ! with the shovels you make a trench so that you can seat comfortable inside the tent. My bed was a bit to narrow and the sleeping bag got all wet the first night rubbing the snow.... Luckily I only have to get up once to pee !!
It was a warm night and this time the tent didn't collapse with the overnight snow !

The mega mit

In the morning (7am) we all went to the hot tent for breakfast. I brought bacon and eggs and was one of the best breafast of all times !! Nothing like a warm and cozy tent for breakfast.

Back to camp Saturday afternoon

After the second ski day we went back to camp, we had ve found an open creek to get water (otherwise melting would have required more time).

Creek to get water after a long day.... overwise we would have to melt snow
