First winter ride of the season (well at least first for me..)

Finally could join the Cadence group last Saturday for a winter ride.. Kate, Ryan and Erik this time. Kate leading us to Cochrane through the Glenbow Ranch Prov Park (south side of Hwy1A). It was icy and with lots of snow, but equally fun :-) we rode (not for to long on the train tracks, after receiving some tips from Erik on how to :-)))))

It was a bit foggy and cold, but after all the riding in on the snow I sure was sweating like a pig @#$$. Riding down some of the single track sections I had not breaks at all! (yeah, another reason to buy my next cx bike with disk breaks !!!). Onto the path after the train tracks and some single "snowy" tracks it was even worse, as the ice on the path makes you ride even smoother... Only thinking about breaks will make you wipeout.... Up the hill with plenty of snow and soft gravel was a lot of work, so I ended up pushing the bike for a few hundred meters.

Just before the descent to Cochrane the breaks issue was even worse, almost crash into Ryan, but luckily put my foot down and managed to clean the corner without crashing.
Grilled cheese sandwich and a good break in the Java Cafe until our cloths were dried out to start the ride back.
On our way back we rode a bit of single track through Big Hills Prov Park and up the Retreat Rd to 262 (good long climb where trying to keep up with Kate was quite a work out :-)). We rode all the way to Bears Paw on a nice cleaned road and through the community to 12 mile, where I took Country Hill to make sure I get home as planned (without getting in to much trouble with Maria) and the rest of the group continued down 12 mile onto the single track section to ride all the way to Cadence. It was a nice 72k for me and after that I just took Nick for a 45 min chariot walk so that he could sleep and re-charge his batteries ::--)))).
Sunday was nice so I decided to spend some time finishing the deck, then took Nick for his first ski day at COP!! I loved it, it was amazing and what is best I think he liked it too!! can't wait to take him again this weekend.
