Second winter ride.. 85k and sick :-(

The reason I don't even have a picture today wasn't because I forgot my BB, but because I didn't have the energy to get it out my pocket ! After a week on antibiotics for a throat infection I decided nontheless to join Kate, Craig M and Erik for a casual (85k ride).. We met at Cadence @8am and after a short coffee and some chat we headed out. This time we tried crossing to Tuscany through to ravine, but this time was really wet ! Craig had a nice swim and ended up petty wet, where I ended up taking my time to cross them while staying dry.... We managed to get across and up to Tuscany where Erik turned around for other commitments at work and the rest of us explored some other ways to get to Cochrane. Lot's of snow on the way out, but blue sky and warmer temperatures :-)))) I wasn't feeling well at all with all the medications and lack of sleep, but was willing to stay with the group and suffer till the end !@###
I was walking quite a bit up the hills and was almost feeling like bailing and riding back home on the 1A, but I am so stubborn and against the bailing out policy that couldn't do it ! We managed our way to Cochrane where the grilled cheese sandwich made some miracles in my brain and I had a second wing to keep going. We took the south side in our way back to Calgary (towards hwy1 and through Spring Bank) and right at the end after the airport I decided to follow Kate and Craig onto more single track through Valley Ridge where a friendly (too friendly) husky poppy decided to join us in the last leg of the ride and made it all the way to almost Bowness with us, of course making new friends along the way and making us chase him and call him back all the time !!) what a cute dog thought.. Luckily Susan was able to meet us in Kate's truck and took him back to his owners.
Maria and Nick were waiting for me at Angels for ice cream and a burger and I didn't have to ride all the way home this time ::--)))
One thing is for sure, Maria might end up divorcing me for all the long winter rides, but I will for sure gain a lot of skills riding on the icy/single/snowy tracks in my cx bike !
