Mount Field Summit, Yoho National Park BC Feb 2020

Super epic day with Andy hitting the summit of Mt Field in Yoho!! 1,600 mts of elevation gained, incredible downhill from the top, amazing day.

The approach is about 2kms from the parking lot, straight up until you see the first open area. Crossing them we used extreme caution, Andy went ahead and I followed 100mts after.

One of the best day so far for me hitting the summit of such a spectacular peak.

Once you get over it, is when all the fun begins, straight down though an open are with nothing but pure white snow.

We had a new 30cm of snow this day and the conditions of the snow were the best.

First open area to cross

At least a 35-40% grade with some cornices at top

Almost at the top of Mt Field

Last few mts to the summit

This is Andy getting on top of Mt. Field Summit and checking out the cornice

Our ski tracks coming down

Once you are at the bottom of this first downhill, the plan is to traverse North until you get to the avalanche chute that will take you all the way down to the end of the road to the waterfalls. From there there is a 5 kms flat road to get to the car... This part was the least fun of all !! I was hungry, thirsty, almost dehydrated and ready to go home.
