Family adventure, MTB loop.... longest so far..
There is always a plan for the weekend, biking, hiking, camping, anything to get out and enjoy the outdoors. This time was a mountain biking adventure !! The plan was to bike from Canmore to Banff and back... Going from Canmore to Banff via Goat Creek trail (dirt off road 20kms mostly downhill), then from Banff to Canmore via Legacy Trail (paved pathway around 26kms, mostly flat).
We invited a friend and were able to droop the bike at the top of the trail and leave one car in the CNC for easy access when finishing the trip. We were on our way at 12:30, a bit late since it was very hot, but that was it. Goat Creek is a nice trail, wide enough for Maria to feel comfortable, and with some bridges and rocky sections to keep the kids entertain.
Took us around 2:30 hours to get to Banff, Maria wiped out once and we had to go back to make sure she was fine. By the time we arrived to Banff it was peak time and it was very busy, couldn't even have ice cream, the place was packed.
We stop at the gas station to refill water and grab some freezes to cool off.
The return to Canmore on the Legacy Trail was nice and easy, I would say mostly downhill, with a few stops on the creek to cool off we were able to pedal quite fast. When we arrived to Canmore I left the family in Wendys and rode up to the CNC to pick up my car. Our moving time was 3:30 for 46kms, but over all was 5 hours.
